Mono:Iphone

The Mono runtime has been ported to the iPhone OS and a commercial port is available for iPhone developers.

Notice that at this point:

  • A significant amount of cross-compilation is required, this is far from easy.
  • No iPhone APIs have been exposed, so you get the very basic foundation.

Unity Technologies today is shipping Mono with their Unity Gaming Platform, this is the easiest and fastest path to use Mono on the iPhone. Check their web site at http://unity3d.com

Both the Mono runtime and the Mono C# Compiler are available under proprietary license for those who cannot, or choose not to, use LGPL and GPL code in their projects.
